Lou was one of New Jerseys top lifters in the
1970s and 1980s. He was coached by Butch TothHe lifted in many state
championships during this period.
Lou’s accomplishments include being a
member of the 1984 Olympic team and the 1981 World Championship
team. His placings at the Senior Nationals were 1978- 3rd, 1979- 2nd,
1980- 4th, 1981- 2nd, 1984- 6th, and 1984 Olympic Trials 4t
RICH SHANKO
Rich was a top lifter of the 1970s and 1980s. He
lifted in many state meets during that period as well as representing
our state both nationally and internationally.
Rich also represented Woodbridge recreation and
later Belleville. He was coached by Butch Toth.
Rich Shanko was a member of the 1984 Olympic
team. He was also on the 1983 World Championship team, where he placed
7th. His Senior National placings were 1981- 3rd, 1982- 2nd, 1983- 2nd,
and 1984 Olympic Trials 2nd.
